The Give Where You Live Campaign is a national effort to support food cooperatives across the U.S. in building local Cooperative Community Funds.
Sponsored by the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation, each fund will serve as a means for co-op members and shoppers to make donations to an endowment that donates to local non-profit organizations.
The interest earned by each Fund will be given annually to local groups working on issues relating to sustainable agriculture and organic food, hunger and social issues, environmental protection and cooperatives.
The Give Where You Live Campaign represents each Co-op's special effort to give back to those deserving--and hard working--groups that build community.
Give Where You Live! Because great organizations begin here.
Tidal Creek Co-op incorporated in 1982 as a member-owned cooperative natural foods store. From the beginning, a commitment to offering high quality natural foods at competitive prices has been central to Tidal Creek’s philosophy. Beyond being just a great place to buy groceries, Tidal Creek serves the community in many ways including education, outreach and community building. Tidal Creek is unique. It is a place to buy the groceries you need to nurture your family and at the same time be part of creating a healthier future for our community and planet.
A Cooperative Community Fund was established in the name of Tidal Creek Co-op with matching dollars from the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation. The Co-op plans to contribute to the Community Fund through owner contributions, proceeds from fundraising events, and portions of the co-op income. Each year the co-op will award the interest dollars of the endowment fund to selected grantees. These grantees will have submitted proposals to be reviewed by a panel that includes co-op owners. It is the goal of Tidal Creek Co-op to support organizations that are working toward increasing the health of the community and/or the environment. Priority is given to neighborhood organizations and events focusing on food and nutrition issues, community building, sustainability, environmental preservation, Cooperative Values, or addressing social concerns.
