The Give Where You Live Campaign is a national effort to support food cooperatives across the U.S. in building local Cooperative Community Funds.
Sponsored by the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation, each fund will serve as a means for co-op members and shoppers to make donations to an endowment that donates to local non-profit organizations.
The interest earned by each Fund will be given annually to local groups working on issues relating to sustainable agriculture and organic food, hunger and social issues, environmental protection and cooperatives.
The Give Where You Live Campaign represents each Co-op's special effort to give back to those deserving--and hard working--groups that build community.

The Davis Food Co-op and the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation are proud of the assistance to vital groups in our community through grants from the Davis Co-operative Community Fund. Over $11,000 in grants have been awarded to organizations based in Davis or serving Yolo County, and dedicated to working on issues in agriculture, food and hunger, community and social problems or the environment.
2007 Community Fund Grant Applications will be available by link to this page by July ‘06. Organizations interested in applying for awards from the Fund must meet a few requirements, such 501©3 status with the Internal Revenue Service, or incorporation as a cooperative. 2006 grant recipients were announced at the Annual Membership Meeting of the Davis Food Co-op, held May 17 at Central Park, Davis during the Davis Farmers’ Market Picnic in the Park. Grants were awarded to:
- ASUCD Experimental College Community Garden—for their natural building project
- Bannon Creek Elementary School PTA—for their garden and cooking cart
- Knights Landing Children’s Center—for purchase of an oven and garden materials
- Pence Gallery—for their scholarship programs
- People Resources Inc. Elderly Nutrition Program—for reusable meal trays
- Pine Tree Gardens—for improvements to their yard
- Yolo Adult Day Health Care—for adaptive computer equipment
- Yolo Crisis Nursery of Families First—for program supplies and outdoor activities
- Yolo Family Resource Center—for help in starting a workers’ cooperative for minority women
