The Give Where You Live Campaign is a national effort to support food cooperatives across the U.S. in building local Cooperative Community Funds.
Sponsored by the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation, each fund will serve as a means for co-op members and shoppers to make donations to an endowment that donates to local non-profit organizations.
The interest earned by each Fund will be given annually to local groups working on issues relating to sustainable agriculture and organic food, hunger and social issues, environmental protection and cooperatives.
The Give Where You Live Campaign represents each Co-op's special effort to give back to those deserving--and hard working--groups that build community.
Give Where You Live! Because great organizations begin here.
In 2005, Lakewinds doubled its size, opening a new 18,000 square food store in Chanhassen and expanded its Minnetonka location to another of equal size down the street from its former location. Lakewinds also has a smaller store in Anoka and state of the art community classroom where cooking classes and workshops are held. Lakewinds sells a wide variety of organic, local and specialty groceries as well as the best selection in the Twin Cities of products for those with wheat and gluten allergies. Consistent, committed support for the co-op makes its success possible.
Lakewinds customers give generously to our community through Dollars for Donations and Green Patch programs, supporting local food shelves, social service agencies, and environmental organizations. The co-op enjoys strong relationships with many groups, including the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, where we provide support for education programs. With the new Lakewinds Cooperative Community Fund, we have the opportunity to offer members and customers a way to support local organizations while building cross-sector cooperative investment throughout the Midwest. We expect the CCF fund to appeal to member owners looking for tax-deductible giving, as well as to everyday shoppers taking pride in promoting the Lakewinds values.
